More From Life

Essays on how to live a full human life where you can have it all

It has been over a year since I started writing here and reflecting on what works to live a full human life, for my patients, my family, and myself.

Based on my fascination of well-known figures from the renaissance epoque - like DaVinci and Goethe - polymaths from a long-gone era, I set up to strive for a modern day renaissance life. Hence the name of the newsletter - The Renaissance Protocol.

Even though all of that made perfect sense to me, I learned over the last year through many interactions, feedback and conversations, that that name - The Renaissance Protocol - is more clunky and misleading than I was aware of.

And I realized, that if I need a whole paragraph or a 5 minute monologue to explain, what it is that I am writing about - then I might have a clunky name that buries the real point.

You might have realized that I always end my essays with the salute to more in life. Which is the essence of what I am doing. Trying to get more from life - for my patients, for my family and not the least for myself.

That is why I am rebranding this newsletter to “More from Life - Essays on how to live a full human life where you can have it all”.

The content will stay the same but likely expand.

I will write on my interpretation of living a full human life.

As you might have noticed, I like visual images a lot, it helps me make sense of things if there is at all any.

I have chosen a tree as the image that represents that full human life best and symbolizes the aspects I find repeating in my writing and thinking.

These are - built around a single image: a tree. Its branches mirror the areas I keep returning to, the ones I’ll break down essay by essay,

  • Love and relationship

  • Family and society

  • Work and success

  • Health and Wellbeing

  • Fun and Play

And Spirituality as the roots.

Going forward, each essay will nest under one of these branches.

This, because I am planning to include ALL topics that are relevant in my life. So you might see one essay on AI’s impact on my clinical work, then another on software development, then a note on meditation I actually used last Tuesday, and later, a raw piece on parenting. You get the point.

Against all better advice, I am not niching down but broadening up.

What I will ask you to do, is this: grab the branches that feed you. Ignore the rest. It might come back around later; it might not.

Root your tree deep enough that it can hold every fruit you’ll ever grow. That’s the full human life, yours to build, not mine to define.

To more in life,

Nicco

PS: I love to read your replies, and am always curious to hear your thoughts.
